# How do I adjust the Harness on my Mockingbird High Chair?

Adjusting your Mockingbird High Chair Harness is quick once you know where the Strap Adjusters and Buckle components are. Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions for the current Magnetic Harness (November 2024 and later), as well as the previous Quick Release Harness (October 2024 and earlier).
### Magnetic Harness (November 2024 and later)
Our current High Chair Harness features a magnetic buckle that helps make in-and-out faster, plus smooth straps that adjust with simple pulls (no rethreading required).
#### Adjust the harness for a secure fit
1. Start with the straps loosened. Before placing your child in the seat, loosen the Shoulder and Waist straps so you have room to buckle.
2. Position the straps correctly. Make sure the Shoulder straps sit flat over your child’s shoulders (not twisted) and the Waist straps sit low across the hips.
3. Tighten evenly. Use the length Adjusters on the straps to tighten until the harness is snug and secure, but still comfortable.
4. Check for twists and gaps. If any strap is twisted, straighten it before final tightening. A flat strap is more comfortable and provides a better fit.
5. Final fit check. Once buckled, give a gentle tug on each strap to confirm everything stays secure and the straps are lying flat.
#### Secure the magnetic buckle
1. Fasten the magnetic strap clips together by aligning the smaller clip over the larger clip until you hear an audible **“CLICK.”**
2. Snap the magnetic buckle over the strap clips until you hear an audible **“CLICK.”**
3. Gently tug the straps to confirm they’re securely fastened.
4. When you’re ready to unbuckle, press the side buttons on the magnetic buckle.
### Quick Release Harness (October 2024 and earlier)
If your High Chair has the previous Quick Release Buckle, you can still adjust the harness using the strap length Adjusters.
#### Adjust the harness straps
Slide the length Adjusters on each strap one way or the other to tighten or loosen, depending on your needs. The straps should rest comfortably on your child’s shoulders without slipping off.
**Strap Holder (October 2024 or earlier harnesses only)**
The Strap Holder should be on the back of the harness and is intended to help keep the straps from falling off your child’s shoulders.
If the harness is too tight after loosening the straps fully, removing the strap holder part altogether can provide a little extra space.
#### Secure the quick release buckle
1. Align the strap clips with the corresponding openings on the Buckle.
2. Press inward until you hear an audible **“CLICK.”**
3. Confirm the strap clips are facing the correct direction (see image below).
4. Give the straps a gentle tug to confirm they’re securely fastened.
If you try to insert the strap clip into the Buckle with the center nub (circled in yellow) facing you, it might go in, but it won’t actually engage and lock into place.

### Removing the Harness (all versions)
To remove the harness from your Mockingbird High Chair for cleaning or replacement:
* Unattach the harness straps from the buckle
* Locate the harness attachment points on the back and bottom of the Baby Seat
* Carefully thread and remove the attachment points
* Pull the entire harness assembly away from the chair
Always ensure the harness is properly reattached and adjusted before placing your child in the high chair after removal.
